It is with great pride that Newry Junior Chamber celebrates the continued success of their current and former members within the business community. 2014 has been a resounding year of success for Chamber members and one that is testament to the work that Chamber members undertake inside the Chamber and in their respective professions.
In the last year local businessman Paul Vallely and his sister Clare Vallely, joint owners of The Rug House, joined the Chamber following their relocation to Carnbane Industrial Estate. As well as contributing to the success of the Chamber since joining Paul and Clare have won a number of prestigious awards for their company. The Chamber wishes Clare in particular the best of luck for the upcoming Women in Business Awards due to be held on 20th November. Clare has been shortlisted for Exporter of the Year.
Local Company MJM Marine continues to lead the way in driving industry in the Newry & Mourne area. The Chamber is proud of its associated with MJM through current members Naoimh McConville and Maureen Kearney. The Company continues to be recognised as an industry leader and has received a number of prestigious awards this year.
Local restaurateur Neil Bradley, proprietor of the Sugar Supper Club, has been a Chamber member for a number of years. Sugar Supper Club has been recognised as 1 of the top 35 start up businesses in the UK in 2014 at the UK wide Startups.co.uk awards and 1 of the 3 new restaurants turning the restaurant industry on it's head. The award ceremony takes place in London on 27th November where Sugar Supper Club are nominated for both the Peoples Choice Award & the Restaurant of the Year. The Chamber would like to wish Neil and his team the best of luck at the awards ceremony.
We were delighted to host our AGM in January at Neil’s restaurant and were treated to a fantastic evening of culinary excellence.
In May of this year current Chamber President Neil Logan of Wilson Nesbitt Solicitors won the Young Leader of the Year award at the annual Young Leader Conference held in Riddell Hall, Belfast.
Local Companies Tinnelly Demolition, Dan O’Hare Trucks and Trailers, Malone Lynchahaun Accountants, PKF-FPM, BMM People Management, ITS New Media and Bank of Ireland all continue to support the Chamber and have remained prominent and successful in their respective industries. The Chamber is indebted to the individual members who give up their time to make our voluntary organisation a success.
Finally the Chamber passes their sincere congratulations to former members and presidents who continue to develop their careers outside of the Chamber. A special word of congratulations goes to Belinda O’Neill who has just completed her second and final year as President of the Lisburn Chamber of Commerce. Belinda gave up time in her extremely busy schedule to attend a meeting of the NJC earlier in the year and deliver some invaluable words of encouragement and advice to the Chamber members.
