NJC member and marketing co-ordinator, Denise Cowan from Digital Den Marketing attended last night’s all Ireland marketing awards by CIM - Ireland Region where she received a Highly Commended Award (2nd place) for her work on a public health and event marketing campaign for Belfast Orangefest. The campaign, called ‘It’s About The Battle, Not The Bottle’ aimed to tackle the issue of excessive alcohol consumption and anti-social behaviour which is sometimes witnessed at public and Bank Holiday events in NI.
The event in this case was the Belfast 12th July parade which attracts over 10,000 participants, spectators and tourists into Belfast city centre each year. This year’s event had greater significance as the event was dedicated to the memory of all those who were killed and injured in The Battle of the Somme 100 years ago, which included thousands of British and Irish soldiers. The team aimed to encourage those attending to drink in moderation, enjoy a family day out and show respect as the commemorative events took place. Denise would be keen to talk to any local businesses, community groups and charities who need help with their event marketing strategies and well as local companies who require ongoing monthly assistance with their commercial marketing projects!
