Newry Junior Chamber has launched its annual Secret Santa Appeal. Now in its sixth year, the appeal just gets stronger and stronger.
Christmas Trees have been placed in The Buttercrane Shopping Centre, The Quays Shopping Centre and Warrenpoint Credit .
The trees are decorated with gift cards with the first name and age of hundreds of children who are in need of ‘Secret Santas’ this Christmas. Shoppers are invited to choose a card and buy a gift for the child, returning it to the collection points.
Newry Junior Chamber President Gavin Short explains: “We work closely with a number of local charities to identify children of all ages for whom Christmas may not be that special due to a number of reasons. The response to our last five Secret Santa Appeals has been truly amazing and we’re hopeful that the people of Newry and the surrounding area will once again demonstrate their generosity and kind-heartedness.”
Gifts should be returned to the location where you took the card from and the final date to donate your gifts is Wednesday 22nd December 2010. Newry Junior Chamber elves will liaise with the local charities in ensuring all gifts are collected and distributed in time to give children a special gift at Christmas.
